Hartland Leads Livingston County Towards Much Needed Changes

By: The Livingston Lantern Staff and

Hartland Consolidated schools held their first meeting on January 9th with the newly elected board consisting of Michelle Blondeel, Meghan Glabach, Glenn Gogoleski and Greg Keller. Costa and Coleman were not up for election, and Shaw was appointed just before elections. Quite the meeting it was, with good discussions, questions actually being asked, as well as bylaw changes addressed. It is clear that 3 members of this new board are adamant on keeping their constituents in the know, and questioning items on the agenda. Blondeel expressed her concerns about the board packets coming too late, and Keller expressed the need to make board packets public. Both issues had great discussions, and headway 8s being made. With the new Mils coming up for HCS, Gogoleski addressed and questioned the cost of such special elections, and Hughes shot off a rough figure of 35k. Gogoleski also addressed with the passing of proposal 2, these costs would certainly go up. Blondeel and Keller also addressed DEI, as well as making things very transparent to parents and "meeting behind closed doors" needs to stop. It seemed Costa kept referring to Hughes , and clearly lacks knowledge of Robert's rules, and one could clearly see that he looks to Hughes for direction. All in all it appears this new board ( well at least 3) are ready to roll up their sleeves, and due their due diligence before meetings. It is very clear that transparency and accountability, publicly seem to be the direction this board will be taking.
